a couple new updates

Hello boys and girls in web land. In case you were curious, you can see a couple of new things I’ve been working on at work. A few days ago we launched a couple of new sites, jeffersondoor.com and noahs-friends.org.

Jefferson Door is a door, window, moulding, cabinets, you name it, manufacturing company that has been serving the Greater New Orleans area since 1959.  That’s pretty impressive, and I think their website is pretty impressive too.  I designed it and built it from the bottom up, and I have to say I’m pretty happy with it.  I’m also working on some buisness cards and print material for them, which I’m pretty excited about.

NOAH’s friends is a non profit that supports the New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, which cares for children with mental illnesses.  They do a wonderful job, and if you’d like to support them, please donate some money on their fancy new website.  I think we did a wonderful job with it.  This is another I designed and built.  I’m also very happy with it, and I think it’s on the top of my list of favorite sites I’ve done so far.

Additionally, I hope to have some actual pictures of the book I designed, “History With a Twist” by Joe Gendusa.  I’m really happy with how that came out, and I’d like for you all to see it ASAP.

Finally, I have some stuff that I’ve been working on for myself, nolascene.com – I’m really happy with how the design is going, and I hope to post some initial screen shots soon.

Stay in touch, peeps.

bad font, no treat.

Some co-workers and i have this little game that we play. We try to see if we can go an entire day without seeing “papyrus” in at least one form or another – logo, ad (usually in the clipper magazines), flier, whatever. I’ve been working at Design the Planet for a few months now, and since we’ve started playing this game, I haven’t skipped a day without seeing papyrus.

Your average Joe might be saying “so what?” And this is my problem.  If you’re a designer, well, you know exactly what I’m getting at. You’re probably as sick to death of overused fonts and crappy logos as I am. Continue Reading
